Having e-mail filter is essential for mailboxes protection against spam. There’s a great number of applications which filter e-mails by messages, key words, domains, IP-addresses, senders’ addresses etc.

You should follow the rules listed below in order to protect yourself from spam or minimize its effect:

- don’t publish your e-mail address on public web-sites.
- never click “cancel a subscription” link in spam message as it will let spammer know that your mailbox is active
