The Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) is a method of critical error report generation in operating systems such as Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Thiserroriscausedbysomeprogramsfailures, predominantlybyhardwaremalfunction. “The blue screen of death” also known as “STOP-error” leads to all system processes shut down and “computer hang-up” after blue screen displaying. This procedure is required to prevent possible operating system kernel destruction and consequent decay of information stored on disks. When STOP-error arises error code and error recovery algorithm are displayed on the screen and core memory dump saving occurs in case of some certain system states. Upon that computer shuts down or operating system spontaneous reboot takes place. If the operating system does not boot, you can simply press “RESET” button on PC system panel to restore it. If the error is caused by accident, for example, some program failure, then this error may be ignored. If the error occurs regularly, all the more so while every system startup, then the possible cause is malfunctioning hardware, for instance, corruption of file system, drivers or RAM memory units. For error diagnostic purposes you should address to the error code provided in STOP-error line.
See the example below:
STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFD3094C2, 0x00000001, 0xFBFE7617, 0x00000000) – error parameters explaining BSoD origin.
Use the STOP-error check list for these parameters interpretation. This check list is valid for all current and upcoming Windows versions.
