Tag — a hidden information field or a controlling instruction in the file body. For instance, in hypertext documents tags are used for marking and formatting, in MP3 files – for storing of information about a music track and the artist.
Targeted attack — attacks targeted at a certain person, company or group, carried out quietly and unnoticeably. These are not mass attacks as their objective is not infecting as many computers as possible. The danger is the ‘ordered’ nature of such attacks designed intentionally for trapping of their potential victims
Task list — a list of all programs and processes running at the present moment in the operating system.
Template / Global template — file determining the set of initial characteristics a document must have before it is launched.
Texture — in 3D graphics — a graphic surface, ‘skin’ wrapping the ‘frame’ of a 3D object. Can imitate the image of a real surface (rock, wood, textile, leather, etc.) Background textures are used in 2D graphics as well, as a background pattern.
Threat level — definition of a danger level every virus poses towards a user.
Title bar — a line on the top of a window. Contains a file or a program name.
Track — a band on a disk where data can be stored.
Trackware — all software tracing users’ activity in the Internet (visited pages, banners clicking, etc.) and creating a profile which can further be used by advertising companies.
Trojan — being precise, Trojan is not a virus, though is used to be called so. In fact, these are programs penetrating computers and seeming absolutely harmless, nevertheless, their auto-installation and operating causes user’s confidentiality failure.
TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) — a feature enabling some programs to linger in the memory after being launched.
Tunneling — a technology applied by some viruses to destroy antivirus protection.
TWAIN (Technology Without Any Interesting Name) — a program interface for connection of a range of external input devices (scanners in particular).
Tweak — an accurate adjustment of hidden non-documented parameters of a program or a device; a small utility for tuning of these parameters.
