    QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) — a method of modulation applied in high-speed modems combining phase and amplitude modulation. Enables encoding of several bits within a single time interval. V.32bis encodes six data bits and an additional bit for every exchange signal.

    QFA (Quick File Access) — a format of recording type partitioning into two sections: a large one for files’ location, and the smaller one for catalogue recording. Makes the access to files stored at a recording tape faster.

    QIC (Quarter Inch Committee) — an industrial standards association establishing standards for information packing hard- and software, utilizing storages on a quarter inch wide tape.

    Quick Launch bar — an area near to the Windows Start button containing Quick Launch icons of certain objects and programs (e-mail, the Internet, antivirus, etc.).
