    OCR (Optical Character Recognition) — an automatic recognition system for a text introduced into PC as a graphic image by means of a scanner.

    OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) — a method of software sale together with computers, in some cases – together with certain components. Typically, the OEM software versions’ price is much cheaper, than the Retail kits’.

    OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) a standard for insertion and linking of images, video clips, MIDI, animations, etc. Into files (documents, databases, electronic sheets, etc.)

    Online registration a system for subscription and registration of a product or a service via the Internet by a user.

    Operating system (OS) a set of programs responsible for computer use.

    OS/2 — a universal operating system designed by IBM and Microsoft Corporation. It uses operations of processor safe mode to extend the memory from 1 Mbyte to 4 Gbytes, and for fast and effective multitasking support.
