    LAN (Local Area Network) — a network of interacted computers, located in a small geographical area (usually, in the same town or building).

    LBA (Logical Block Addressing) — an addressing mode when accessing the hard disk data.

    Link / Hyperlink — elements of a web-page, an e-mail message or a document (a text, a picture, key buttons, etc.), clicking on which a user is redirected to another web-page or another document section.

    Link Virus —a virus type, that changes the address, where the file is stored by substituting it with the virus address. As a result, the virus is activated after launching/running the file. After having been infected by the virus the source file becomes unusable.

    Log — a report text file, where all the actions performed by the program and their results are written into.

    Loop a set of commands or instructions performed by the program repeatedly until a certain condition is fulfilled.

    Lost Clusters — parts of data appearing on the hard disk as a result of malfunctions and errors not related to any files. It is electronic garbage. Specific programs, such as Norton Speed Disk or Norton Disk Doctor are used to deal with Lost Clusters. The same programs check the data structure and mark Bad Clusters.

    LPT-port (Line Printer Port) — a slot on the computer case back panel used to connect printer, scanner, a high-capacity external drive.
